Dual Stereo Speakers Setup Question

<< < (2/2)

MnMCaputo:
well its really not POWER, the power is not from your sound card, its from the amp of your speakers, its more of signal strenght, yes your signal strength will drop a little, but i'm sure the sensitivity of your amp and voice coil will be able to handle it, just spend the extra 20 cents at radio shack and get the gold plated splitters just in to be safe  :)

AlanS17:
Make sure you get a stereo splitter, though. Some splitters simply split the signal into individual left and right mono channels.

You can tell by the connections. Mono plugs have two contacts and stereo plugs have 3 contacts. Of course, the stereo male plug is visible, but it'll be hard to see whether the 2 female connections are mono or stereo without really good eyes and a flashlight or (hopefully) a good explanation on the package.

Fabricating your own as a last resort shouldn't be difficult, though. Radio Shack sells all the parts you need so do such a thing,
