[Dragon King] Run-time error '9'

Pages: << < (2/4) > >>

RavenShadow:

I think the problem came from the masterlist creation.
When i use DumbA.exe, Dragon King doesn't work.
When I use ListGen.exe with a mame dat, Dragon King works (a bit).

I managed to go to the screen where i can select my game, but when i want to launch it, Dragon King freezes.
Then i open my task manager (windows XP) and i can see that both Dragon King and Mame freeze. If i kill the Dragon King task, Mame continue and i can play the game.

When i quit the game, my explorer is crashed and i have to execute explorer.exe.

Your FE seems very cool but it is so hard to configure.  :-[

Thanks in advance.

*sniff, sniff*  I didn't know you cared man...

Howard,

Basic solution we had was to go through the configuration of DK step by step without the use of the wizard.  It seems that unless we are very methodical about reading the exact steps to take before initiating the wizard something will snag and cause an error (of which I am also at fault).

Having done it the long way and now being somewhat comfortable in playing around inside DK, I think the longer way (adjusting the frontend.ini , dirs.ini , configs and dats) just seems easier.  Im guessing that some people are immediately turned off of DK simply by the initial errors they get when they try to configure it. Too bad they don't stick with it to see the true power it can weild  (Shang Tsung style).

Oh, by the way- last time we talked, you tried to get me up and running on PC games (you mentioned it might be broken in DK .95)  I never posted my workaround to get them running so here it is...might be helpful in someways or to someone...

[Config]
extension=.exe
path=C:\progra~1\golden~1\
exe=gtgolf
send rom path=1
send exit keys=0
command line options=
emulator is on a cd=0
roms are on a cd=0
Emulator Volume Label=
Roms Volume Label

My dirs.ini  --> roms= C:\progra~1\golden~1\

All short file names on purpose seemed to work.

Thanks!

Mame is probably freezing due to a "press any key" message that you can't see.  In the frontend.ini set the launch style to 1 and see where it's hanging up.  If the error doesn't help you post your laz_log. txt  Also invalid event sounds will cause the same problem... but that's another issue.

teknique..... the next build will help with your pc game woes.  Stay tuned.

Done as you said and same problem.
Laz_log.txt is empty.

Howard_Casto:

dumb question... but are you using mame?

not mame32, not joe-bob's super mame just mame

I always tell people who are trying to resolve issues to stick to a stock build, that way it eliminates one variable.

I can tell you this.... except for the two issues I've already mentioned dk is coded so that it can't freeze up.  So if mame is actually running in the background then either the command line your are passing to mame is invalid or a third party app running on your system is giving issues.

Just giving it to ya straight.  There may be a bug, but I've yet to find someone that's had trouble actually getting mame to launch, it's generally display problems people run into.
