I just updated the control panel with some cool silver metallic chrome colored diamond plate and wanted to share in case anyone but me ever reads this post :) It's nice and thick at 11 mil so no worries about air bubbles. Cut with an X-acto knife and a t-square and applied right over the gold plate on the panel. Poked through the holes with my X-acto and cut around the edges. Pushed the buttons in to create dimples for the pegs, then poked holes with an awl. Easy install and turned out looking great! |

Growing up, I always hated the claw machines with the forward and right buttons. I much preferred the ones with the joystick. |

I had thought about converting this to use a joystick, but I’ve grown to appreciate the risk of overshooting prizes with no going back. In an arcade this would have sucked, but for home use the added challenge is welcome. So the buttons are here to stay! ;D |

Hey man, I also have this crane game. I got it a few years ago, but I didn't have to do much work to it, only replace a bad motor brush. It still has the florescent blub that I've been meaning to replace and the belts, since the trolley sometimes has trouble moving (slipping). Sounds like you got a manual with yours, mine didn't come with one. I would appreciate a scan of it if you can. here a pic of mine shortly after I got it, rigged up for Halloween. the button was just for testing without a coin. |

Hi @eightbit80s! I didn't get an alert that someone had posted so totally missed this! It's interesting to see this game with the original artwork inside. In all my searches I had never seen that. I'd love to know the story about it since it looks like a little kid drew it ;D I was initially going to update mine to a space theme and call it the Galactic Grabber, but over time the art has charmed me so I probably won't. The manual is attached right above the photo in my initial post. My trolley also has trouble moving intermittently. It sometimes slows down a bit when moving across the middle. I don't see any slipping so I'm not sure what is going on. Maybe a weak motor? Maybe old belts? I did notice that the right side of the gantry(?) is leaning back initially, then wobbles forward when the trolley is halfway across. I'm not sure if that's normal or whether something has to be adjusted. Do you notice that on yours? If you get belts please let me know where you got them. I'd like to replace mine to rule out the possibility that maybe the belts are causing my little slow down issue. |
