Hello! I am looking into getting my first claw/crane machine, and it is a Super Scooper! I have zero experience fixing or maintaining claw machines, but it already has one clear issue: the original owner has lost the key. I don't know if there is a way to get a replacement key for this, or if I need to replace the entire mechanism. If anyone has any advice, suggestions, or resources to help me fix this issue, I'd really appreciate it! Thank you :) |

I don't see any slipping so I'm not sure what is going on. Maybe a weak motor? Maybe old belts? I did notice that the right side of the gantry(?) is leaning back initially, then wobbles forward when the trolley is halfway across. I'm not sure if that's normal or whether something has to be adjusted. Do you notice that on yours? If you get belts please let me know where you got them. I'd like to replace mine to rule out the possibility that maybe the belts are causing my little slow down issue. --- End quote --- Picking this thread up since I'm getting my machine ready for Halloween again. The issue you described on the trolley getting stuck or slow is exactly the same as mine, I mean, exactly. I guess it's a design flaw that shows up in age. I just deal with it now. The artwork is pretty basic. I'm tempted to put in a mirror though, I like the look. I dunno much about it other than it looks hand painted. When I bought mine the auctioneer had a row of them, all the same artwork so I figured it's how they were in the factory. For that reason I think I'll keep it preserved in some way. I might make a swap of the claw like yours since the original is like teeth and it's hard to grab anything that isn't sticking up. I reread this thread and the issue with the slack getting stuck and the motor burning happens to me too, it's even worse if you add a free play button since the claw drops again if you press a coin button. I'm working on a solution to disable my free play button when the trolley leaves the start position. I also replaced the light with an led one I got at harbor freight, works great. |

Thanks for letting me know! I guess that's just the way it is. You got me wondering if someone installed the mirror in mine on top of the artwork so I just undid a screw and peeked behind it (it's a flexible plexiglass mirror). No artwork. And no hidden hundred dollar bills either. Bummer. So it seems that there are three variations of this game. Full artwork like yours, mirrored like mine and the white version that's shown on the front of the manual. Here's a close up of how I restricted how far the claw drops with an elastic sneaker cord and a clothing tag clip. It's still working for me! |
