2 player alternating joysticks
« on: April 11, 2020, 05:37:29 pm »
I have a jamma 60 in 1 board with harness and a 2 player joystick set up, left and right built into an old street fighter upright cabinet.

I can play two player games but the system only uses the left joystick setup.  Any suggestion on how to enable the left joystick for player 1 and the right for player 2?

I’ve tried switching the right and left connectors which then allows the right joystick for both player 1 and 2 to work so know it’s not the joystick itself.  Also checked all the ground connectors at the harness.

Thank you!

The single-joystick/alternating-play games simply didn't work that way. The 60-in-1 doesn't do anything that would change that. If you're having trouble with actual two-player-simultaneous games, you'll have to tell us more about your setup.

Thank you. Both 1943 versions I have are configured for 1p only so don’t know about two player simultaneous games. So basically the right set of joysticks and buttons will never really be used since the left set will alternate between player 1 and player 2 play?

1943 is a simultaneous 2 player game.

A good example of a alternating games are: pacman, ms.pacman, donkey kong, Time Pilot and many many more. You can;t use joysticvk #2 to play when it's two players turn (unless your cab is a COCKTAIL table).

There are some games that are alternating and can use the second player. You need to setup (F2/CONFIG/DIP-SWITCH) each game for that (if it supports it).

IF you want to alternate using the other controls you could wire both joysticks to the player 1 inputs - then you could use either set (problem there is if player 2 moves their stick while player 1 is playing it will effect game play as the game sees both as the same joystick - so not a good idea if kids are playing ! )
