Midway games not working
« on: January 02, 2020, 11:01:05 pm »
Hello,

I've looked all over the internet and this forum and can't find an answer.  I have recently upgraded to GroovyMame from regular Mame.  Using GM latest build for .217 (64-bit).

I have an ATI graphics card and have from what I can tell, successfully installed CRT Emudriver and completed VMMaker.

I have a WG 9200 CRT monitor and used the defaults.  I have deleted the 38 mHz settings as others have stated because mine does not explicitly say it handles 800x600 although I can force it to if needed.

Back to the subject of this posts title. I have been trying to run midway games and can not get them to center correctly.  They are shifted off to the right, all of them.

I've tried NBA Jam, MK, MK2, MK3, UMK, 2 on 2 Open Ice, etc...  All of them are shifted to the right and I can't move them with the slider options within GM.

Another topic is that my vertical games do not show correctly either, Pacman for example will not use the entire vertical space of the monitor and is shifted off to the left.  I'm including my mame.ini, mk2.txt, and pacman.txt for reference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I did not have this problem with regular Mame.

Thanks

I did some more digging.  Using super resolutions is what the problem is.  I removed it and went back to the standard ini and things are back to better.  I also added back in the 38 hertz line.  Still not normal.

The windows do not fill the screen and I'm having a hard time following Arcade OSD to correct things.  Things are not that off, but screen real estate is precious.

I found the following, but not getting much to lean on.

Anyone else have a D9200 and use a different setting other than what VMMaker default is?  My settings are listed in the mame.ini(txt) file above from before and I included my new ini in this posting.

Thanks again.

Hey tthorn. I have a WG D9202. Super noob here and I installed the latest GroovyArcade and managed to get it up and running. I am running into similar problems as you mentioned where games attempt to switchres and then go back to the attract mode menu. So far I have managed to get Mk1, Mk2 and 2 on 2 open ice, however, MK3 and Mk4 do not load. There are way too many games failing to mention.. all fo the SF's, capcoms.. it appears that only the older games are working. Managed to get SideArms working.

Games like MK1 and 2 load and look fine, however, there's a high pitch wine.. believe this is the flyback crying.

Not sure if I can help, but I'm looking for a solution for my WG also and looking for clues. Looking to dig into what you have mentioned below. Any starting links on resolution adjustment would be helpful. Let me know if you want me to post any files for you to have a look at.

cheers.
E

My MK3 & MK4 are working fine.  I had lots of issues with vector based like asteroids, but got that resolved as well.  Quite happy with the WG9200.

The ini that I'm using is the one I attached above.  Things are not perfect, but they work.
