New Super Mario Land - SNES
KenToad:
It's a pretty amazing effort, definitely one of the best hacks ever. And it's 4 player simultaneous like the console versions of New Super Mario Bros.
*Edit* I was also annoyed by the jump sounds and the floatiness of the controls, which are not tight and responsive like the best official Mario games. The fireball flying off the screen after one bounce is straight out of the original Gameboy game, so that didn't bother me.

Here’s the “no woo hoo” patch, for those who are annoyed by it.

I was on a plane to Florida a couple of weeks ago and played this on my Vita thru Retroarch. It's a great game that looks awesome on that console. What an awesome time to be a retro gamer. My 10 year old self would be so friggin' jealous. LOL!

The no woohoo patch makes this game much, much, much more playable. A little polish on the interface and fixing the fireballs and this would be damn near a retail game.
While we're somewhat on the subject, I recently met the guy that made this Super Mario World patch, which is actually very creative.

Looks like the 1.1 patch is out! Lots of bugs and improvements have gone into it. Grab the latest version from where he uploaded it ( link not provided due to forum rule 5).
