According to my camera one of my led’s on my original sensor bar pcb is burnt out anyway. The fact that it remedies the problem that you can shoot however you feel comfortable and not have to worry about calibration issues makes it worth it, not to mention I’ll be able to stand closer to my monitor. It’s a win win.

Please let us know how it works out for you. I'm sure there is a lot of us here that would want one once you confirm that it delivers what it promises.

Well I installed the extreme sensor bar today. To be honest I don’t see any difference at all in the way it tracks and making calibration easier. I still have to be the same amount of distance away from my screen too which it says you can be much closer to the screen because of the new leds that are used. AND my damn Aimtraks still have a very tough time shooting the bottom middle calibration point even though the utility software IR test see 2 points no matter where I point my guns on the screen. Latest firmware upgrade did not help. They are from arcadeguns.com and were purchased back in 2013. Could be the ir cams are starting to go on them too but....

Honestly if Sinden finds a way to make that white border not as prominent as it is currently I’ll be chucking the aimtraks and purchasing those.

Thanks for the update (and for saving me $30). You really can't trust anything these people say. It's why I'll never be a first adopter of new tech. We can't believe any of them.

Anyway, I won't be buying any of the new home IR guns including the Sinden. I've found a way to make real arcade IR guns work with mame and other emulators (with the 10 sensor boards around the screen bezel). I'll continue using my Guncon 2 guns for real light gun games on a CRT. I'll use my fixed guns for positional games and get Arcade IR guns for the arcade games that used them. It's the only way to get what I want.

I guess there really will never be an arcade quality gun released for the home market. It's obviously beyond the wit of man to just copy the design of every arcade IR gun ever,

I did in the thread about using my Sega type 2 arcade guns with mame using a UHID.

Sega type 2 guns are their arcade IR guns with the 10 (or 12) IR LED boards around the screen. It's what they used in all their light gun cabs since House of the Dead 2 (excluding positional gun games). It's also what Namco use in all their shooters since Time Crisis 4. The latest Taito cabs use them too.

The tech is all made by the same company and it's universally compatible. I.e. You buy one arcade IR gun set up and use it on Naomi, Lindberg, Chihiro, Namco 256, Ringedge pcbs etc. You can also use it on a PC using a UHID or Arduino (or any device that allows you to connect analog controls). The gun sense I/O board outputs a regular 0-5v analog signal for each axis.

I connected this House of the Dead 4 arcade gun to my PC using a UHID Nano to make it work like an analog controller:

I also connected it with an Arduino Leonardo to work as a mouse:

You can do the same with a Time Crisis 4 arcade gun or a Ghost Squad rifle etc. I plan to use mine for later HD games in Teknoparrot, Dolphin and Demul emulators so I can play games using the correct gun tech. They can also be used to play old light gun games in mame on an HD flat screen (without crosshairs on screen).

Thought I would update on my previous comment...

I got to speak to Andy this morning and just to confirm the recoil is working via the USB lead no additional PSU will be required.

No real update as such other than what I posted before but he is super hyped to get them out to us gun lovers and see his hard work come to fruition.

Do you know what sort of recoil mechanism he's using? You don't usually get enough power from a USB port to generate a satisfying thump from a solenoid. Are you sure he meant that it would power a motor or solenoid directly from the 5v USB port VS using the 5v to trigger a relay with a larger PSU?

I'm not sure I see the benefit of not having a separate PSU if it's not going to be a wireless battery powered gun like the EMS Topgun 3. If it has a USB cable anyway, why not add a line for a separate psu to power some proper recoil?

I'm in favor of offering options for recoil as it clearly matters more to some that others. It's the sort of thing that is not so easy to upgrade at a later date if there isn't room in the shell for a decent solenoid.
