Yep but they'll cut through just about anything and for the price it's definitely worth having around next time you've got to cut through something ! :cheers:
Richie_jones:
If you don't have the tools take it to a car garage and slip them a fiver. Sure they'll cut it off easy
firedance:
all you may need is a metal file as you don't need to remove that much metal. such as this - https://www.harborfreight.com/hand-tools/files/8-inch-flat-file-96626.html
maybe slower but can be more precise, defo no angle grinder, will only end in tears :o
could always saw it off - https://www.harborfreight.com/12-in-hacksaw-62780.html
Laythe:
For the amount of steel you need to remove, I'd use a belt sander.

Thanks for the suggestions - I'm going to try and get it cut this week. I should have time going forward to focus on this stupid cabinet until it is complete. Had my fantasy baseball draft in AC over the weekend so I didn't get anything done... I'm also exhausted but it was fun... other than my team, which probably stinks. I'm trying to get organized so I'm typing out a punch list...
Revised Punch List:
* Drill 4 holes in front of CP for admin buttons using forstner bits
* Drill 4 holes in corners of CP for bolts to attach CP to cabinet
* Either (1) route out 1/4" of material under CP to recess joystick and drill 4 holes for through bolts to hold joystick in place OR (2) use 1/2" screws from under side of CP to hold joystick in place. I'd like to do #2 because it is easier but I am not sure if the screws will come loose over time.
* Print dust washer art
* Install t-molding
* Install monitor to inside of cabinet against bezel
* Polish edges of clear dust washer with Novus
* Attach dust washer art to bottom of clear dust washer
* Figure out how to control ServoStik motor with Raspberry Pi
* Create splash screen or intro video for Raspberry Pi boot
* Configure Raspberry Pi
* Wire everything
I think that's it. Not too much left. I hope to at least finish the CP stuff, monitor install and t-molding by the end of this coming weekend. Software stuff will take me a little while because of my brain deficiencies in that area. :cheers:
