OK - not a lot of progress these days now that the kids are back in school and there are a million things to do... anyway, I managed to find a couple of hours to install the marquee today.  Came out awesome.  It looks really really good in person - camera doesn't do it justice at all.  There is a very warm glow as you can hopefully see in the second pic below.

I had to cut everything down to the proper size - I ordered it large on purpose because I wanted a snug fit on the final install.  This meant creating a template out of MDF, using double sided tape and attaching the plexiglass and then using a pattern bit and my router to make 2 exact copies of the plexiglass the exact size of the marquee.  Once that was finished I trimmed the marquee to fit and sandwiched it between the plexiglass for the install.

Next, I got out the aluminum brackets I sprayed black and used some tape to hold everything in place while I drilled the holes.  Then I added the screws (black #4 - 1/2" - very tiny), removewd the tape and plugged in the lights to test everything.  It worked!  Here are a few pics I snapped.

Next up is the control panel.  I'm a little nervous - I've decided to apply the art, punch the center holes and just drill everything out with the forstner bit.  I really want this to be accurate.  If there is some tearing hopefully the bezel around the buttons will hide it.   The bit is brand new so fingers crossed...

Thanks.  I'm quite pleased with how it came out but I am ready to wrap this project up and move on to the next one.

This week I hope to finish the control panel - I've decided to use blue painter's tape over the buttons for when I drill through the artwork to hopefully reduce tearing.  I also need to figure out how to get the CP to attach to the cabinet body, which is kind of a big deal.  Not sure how to handle it yet...  because of the tight fit I need to install all of the buttons before figuring out a hinge or whatever.  Not sure how much room I'll have but I'll figure something out...

Arroyo:

Colors on the lit marquee look fantastic.

Glue some battens to the right and the left insides of the cab and velcro the CP to them. I used this for my Pinup cab, that CP is going nowhere.
