Thanks for all the help :notworthy: I'll see how it plays when I get the system up an running in a week, but I do get there are countless of better options. Maybe buy a "leaf pro" joystick and just drill it to size? Over here we are up and running after a full board recap. Most of the original caps were fine, but a couple had crazy high ESR. |

Things are really coming together, so it's time for an update. ;D The original PSU plate was pretty much shat on by birds and a total loss, same goes for all the wiring. I made a new plank with a Mean Well power supply and was able to save the original credit and reset board. As my power terminal post did not arrive yet, I improvised with some pcb stand off feet. It's not pretty, but it works. Next up was soldering a whole new wiring harness while it was a 37 degrees Celsius heatwave outside. You gotta use your summer break wisely, am I right? :censored: I'm pretty happy with the results though. And then, it finally worked. I was so happy to see the machine come alive for the first time in 20 years. |

The moment you've been waiting for: CRT time! Time to swap the original modified Blaupunkt TV with a more recent one. I found a relatively low hour 19 inch Philips crt locally, and hoped it was a straight fit. Unfortunately it was not. Fast forward to me furiously trying to make it fit with a jigsaw. Drilled some holes in safe places on the PCB and screwed it down. Voila. Looking like a proper machine now. And finally, we are up and running with the whole CRT setup. This is awesome. I'm content with the result, but there are two big issues still: 1. The CRT does not swith to RGB when the signal on the scart pin is applied at startup. Maybe I should add a delay relay of some kind. 2. This Zippy joystick sucksss... Diagonal corners are almost impossible. |
