harry.gloth:
So i had to determine the size of the center to drill based on the thread pitch and size of the original and what I believe is Industry standard for all of these ball tops, and that is m6x1.0

I double check that it was by installing a thread restore tap in the ball top

harry.gloth:
So knowing the size of a stud i would have to reinsert with those threads M6x1.0 i cross reference using google and found i think was a #5 drill

http://www.gearhob.com/eng/design/drill_eng.htm

A number 5 is .2055. The closest fractional drove it slightly smaller than that was a 13/16 at .2031 i think is what i used

And drilled out the centers
harry.gloth:
So i chucked it back up and center drilled the shafts

Once i had them both drilled i used my tap M6x1.0 and tapped the holes!!

Insert dirty jokes!!kaboom

harry.gloth:
So what i used for the studs were some socket head allens M6x1.0 and i did a quick look to see how much should extend out of the shaft..

Then i installed a M6c1.0 die on the bolt, red loctite the tip and installed into. The reason for installing the die was to repair the threads after i used a cut off wheel to cut the bolt down once it was installed

File the tip, removed the dye..

Test fit the ball top
harry.gloth:
Then i reassembled the joysticks after I finished the second shaft...

And that the new comparison photo and here finished product...
