I know an Xbox can be moded to create an arcade with coinop but i dont own one. was wondering if a ps3 can do the same thing? I know a wii can also do it which I also own but it dosnt play all the games and its alot harder to set up correct?

A pc picked out of the trash outmames any console. Only reason to use an Xbox is if you have a big arcade cabinet with no CRT, the Xbox lets you get a nice picture on an old used TV set.

been trying to set up mame on my old xp computer but its shutting down or restarting when i try and use it and i also think the video card is shot

Get you a dell optiplex on ebay. They steadily sell for about 40-50 shipped for the 4gig of ram ones. They play mame pretty great and have an option in the bios to have it boot when power is applied, so you can connenect everything to one power strip and have it boot everything at once without the need for a smart strip. Its not gonna play mortal kombat 9 but it will play mame and older consoles well.

im only looking to play games say that came out before 2000.so old Mortal Kombat and street fighter will be awesome on that,plus I like to play the classics,Galaga,ms Pacman,Donky Kong ect.

Xbox boots in 17 seconds, does not have problems with USB inputs changing their order, can be turned off abruptly, can be converted to HDMI with a $25 adapter, etc etc.  Disadvantage is there's a lot of really neat newer games on PC you can't touch with an Xbox (Donkey Kong Advanced, for example).

That would be the first thing you'd change. Vista is awful.
There are easy emulation packages available like Lakka.

I'm finding that it doesn't really matter what MS OS is on there if you are just using it for mame. I have Vista on one of mine. Just clean it up, defrag and load up mame.

I do wish however that win98 could easily run on modern setups. I liked 98 (",)
