2 Touch Screen Questions
« on: December 17, 2016, 02:46:00 pm »
Is there a program where my kids can cycle through movies similar to using a jukebox?

Added question is there a way I can link it to my old dusty chromecast so that my kids can automatically have it streamed to the tv in the cave/playroom?

Because the chrome cast DIDNT have this feature, and lacked many other features, I didn’t purchase it when looking for a streaming multimedia unit for my kids room. Just about other option can do netflix/hulu/mirroring/browse local. Roku, Firestick, and the Apple TV can do what you want.

I have an apple tv for family room. I looked at the other, possibly cheaper options for kids room. Bought the roku and liked it a lot, until I couldn’t sleep. Netflix on the roku keeps playing endlessly. Not good for kids that forget to shut it off and fall asleep. Traded it with a friend for another second apple tv. Apple tv will time out after inactivity and go to sleep, then the tv will time out and shut off after lack of video.

Right now the 7yr old is having a sleepover with her crew.  With the juke I'm able to disable the other folders (punk, rock, etc) and just allow her to have kid bop type music that they can choose from.  I would like to find a juke program that would allow me to add kid friendly videos that her and her friends can effortlessly stream to the tv in there.

I use Plex and stream my own movies and can stream to Chromecast.

I'm not sure I answered your question because I was having a hard time following it, but felt compelled to answer for some reason.

Sorry if my thoughts were jumbled.

Lew I feel like I need to send you a present, I've copied a number of your juke designs over the years.

I'll try this again.

I have a stand alone touchscreen jukebox that I would like to upgrade to make it more kid friendly.  Last night the youngest had a sleepover with 4 friends.  On the jukebox right now I can disable any questionable music and just let them jam to kid's bop (bubblegum music).  I would like to find a regular jukebox program that allows me to play movies or a movie jukebox program.

I've found a few but I would like to find one that can automatically output to a chromecast, firestick, etc.

Is there anything out there that would allow me to do this or is it just a shot in the dark?

Is Plex not an option for you?

Another option would be to use FreeboxJukebox with the video option and output to a 2nd screen. I've used it for a bit, but I use plex for all my movie stuff now. :)
