8BitMonk:
Black Black stencil applied. Notice all the small stencil parts in the brush stroke area and inset border lines in the boxes. This was a beast to do, just placing and peeling back each stencil layer took me a couple hours. Sprayed and outer stencil removed, then the inner stencil pieces need to be picked off before it fully dries which is time consuming as well. Note there's supposed to be a small line of blue in the upper left black outline of the blue ghost's mouth. It was missing from the stencil and I had to freehand it in later. The blown out blue portion after black applied. Some line quality and overspray shots. Final sides Other comments I applied a clearcoat of polycrylic over the whole cab after letting the paint cure. I tried it with the HVLP sprayer and wasn't getting good coverage so I ended up brushing it on. It dries super clear and you can't see any brush marks. I didn't touch up any of the overspray areas. Original cabinets from the factory had overspray as well so it's more authentic, that's the story I'm sticking with. :D I think it looks really good as-is and it would be more noticeable with certain areas touched up. It's not perfect, but I think it still looks great. I also didn't do the blue speckles a lot of people do with the toothbrush. I never liked the look of these so decided to forego doing them. |

Love it. --- Quote ---I also didn't do the blue speckles a lot of people do with the toothbrush. I never liked the look of these so decided to forego doing them. --- End quote --- Also totally agree. The blue speckles are weird. Really great work man. :notworthy: Super happy to see you posting this restore here on BYOAC. I can tell those stencils take a lot of work but man that's worth it. Nicely done. Really looks beautiful. |

Why didn't you just build one from scratch? This was in decent condition when you bought it. |
