Anyone keeping up-to-date with this year's E3?

Last year's E3 was pretty hype IMO, but this year it was all about VR support and established franchises switching up their styles.

Some of my favs from this year's show:

- Star Trek: Bridge Crew
Looks like it could be a fun VR simulator, and I've been wanting to play another Starfleet Academy style game.  I like that everyone has their own role on the bridge, and I am interested in how the missions are handled, whether it be a linear progression or a more open-universe concept.

-Robinson: The Journey
Another VR title. Looks pretty amazing, in a kinda Lost in Space feel.  After this E3 I'm really considering jumping in on the VR train.

- Resident Evil 7
I like the direction they're taking with this. They've changed the style up to more of a First-Person horror game, which for me is a nice fresh take on the series. I hope it ties into the umbrella/biohazard storylines, but by the demo it looks genuinely creepy rather than cheesy-creepy that the RE franchise has built itself on.

- Detroit: Become Human
Wow, I'm really interested in this title for all the choices in story-line you can make. The quality level is super high, but the narrative looks really powerful. Giving the player a lot of choices to change the outcome of the game is going to be really cool. Been looking for a game like this for a while.

- God of War: A New Beginning
Another direction change with this franchise. Loved the look of this game, and it looks like they're going for that Uncharted style of storytelling.  It could be another fresh update to this series.

- Spiderman
This is actually looking like a Spiderman game I'd actually play. The swinging and climbing elements look really good in this, and the combat feels more visceral than what most spiderman games are like.

- The Last Guardian
Officially announced to release on October 25!! New Trailer....HYPE!

- Horizon: Zero Dawn
Saw this last year and didn't really think much about it, till I saw the gameplay footage this year. I love the art-style, in the characters and the robot animals.

I can spout off more titles, like Zelda, or Final Fantasy XV and Paper Mario but those are givens. This year's E3 was pretty hype for me, and the prospect of high quality VR games being released is pretty exciting.

What were your highlights from this year's E3?
RetroGreg:
I've only kept up with the Nintendo stuff really. Zelda looks amazingly great and if you're into them I liked some of the amiibos they announced. I did see some of Spider-man and it looked pretty cool.

Retro-bit teased a new console on their Twitter feed that hopefully turns out cool when I hear the details.

My cat knocked my PS4 off of my desk and it broke. It wasn't hooked up so he was able to knock it over easy I guess. I haven't looked into fixing it yet.
Howard_Casto:
Zelda looks amazing (for a Zelda game).  Everything else is pretty meh.

I believe Sony is finally realizing that VR is horrible, horrible idea on their part and they are desperately trying to cobble together as many games as they can.  The only thing that looked even remotely interesting on that front was Bridge commander and while I might like a game like that, I'm certainly not willing to invest that much money to play one game and star trek bridge simulator games have traditionally sold as good as purple astro-turf.

God of War painted itself into a corner and is now shoe-horning in Norse mythology.  I'm sure you'll mash buttons.  I never cared for the series as it's a poor man's Assassin's Creed/Prince of Persia/Castlevania.

There are a lot of interesting things going on in the indie scene, but it's hard to get excited about budget titles.  I think Friday the 13th will be really fun even if it does look like it was made 7 years ago.

I'm looking forward to Watch Dogs 2, but I'm pretty sure I'm the only one.

There's really not much to get excited about.  The theme of this year seems to be "Hey you know that really expensive game console you bought not too long ago?  Yeah that thing's ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---..... throw it out and buy this new console that's really the old console."

Steredenn, a PS4 shmup, is looking pretty good. Rogue-like shmup!? cool:

Oh I forgot about Wild Guns: Reloaded!  The E3 gameplay video was released and I gotta say I'm pretty happy with it.
4-player action, in Widescreen with higher res (updated) sprites. Yes please! Great SNES game and I'm happy to see this obscure title get an update.

The new Shantae game is also looking pretty good. For those who need a good ol' platformer:

Civilization VI is also looking pretty great too!  I might have to get back into playing Civ games!

E3 has been so HYPE this year!   :droid
pbj:
Watch Dogs, man.  His cell phone was a magic wand and the driving was horrible.  I was completely agnostic to the controversy with that title when I played it and I think it lasted all of 20 minutes on my hard drive.  I am skeptical that anything can be salvaged from it. Does it get better?  Sleeping Dogs had the most excruciating 30 minute slog to start an excellent game that I've ever encountered.  I'm yet to see the hoards of "it gets better" defenders lined up for Watch Dogs, though.

I'll hold out for WiiU Zelda until it's $20.  Last good Zelda game was Phantom Hourglass.
