Yeah probably the only two industries that take advantage of you more are the funeral industry and the auto industry. Everybody has to sleep, everybody has to drive and everybody has to die. |

Freakonomics radio had an episode about mattress stores recently: http://freakonomics.com/podcast/mattress-store-bubble/ The long and short of it is that there is a huge markup on mattresses and prices fluctuate wildly from store to store. Every brand builds cheap models and expensive models, so you can't really go by the name on it. Can't be too much markup on whatever $120-160 one I end up buying for the guest room. --- End quote --- Just go search you local alleys. You're bound to find a mattress in one of those. There are always mattresses setting out then, but full size is an oddball size to find anymore. Mattresses are one of those things I just won't buy used, even for a guest room. When I bought one for myself, there was great conflict between this and my desire to get the best deal. I could have saved a few hundred bucks more by getting one that someone returned during the 30 day return period. Just couldn't bring myself to do it. |
