From Wikipedia: Volfied is an arcade game designed by Fukio Mitsuji and released by Taito in 1989. It is a successor to Qix, with extra features and a futuristic science fiction aesthetic, rather than Qix's abstract geometry style; the player pilots a small spaceship named "Monotros" instead of a Stix, and the enemies come in the form of various aliens.

Taking place in another galaxy, a space pilot is returning to his home world of Volfied, only to discover that it is under attack by an unknown alien force. The few remaining Volfied inhabitants are in an underground location of the planet and signal the pilot to their aide. The pilot flies to Volfied using his ship's defensive weapons in order to eliminate the alien threat and save his people.

Competition ends Sunday, March 6th at midnight Pacific time.

Not a bad game, but there is too much luck involved. If you get the power-up that lets you shoot the mothership, you get 200,000 points. I guess JDFan got it in round 1 and round 2.

I'm just going to put a complaint here, knowing that i am whining.  Those star-shaped things that come flying from off screen at completely random times are bull-crap.

I don't know if you have a regular PC setup available to you, but i have played this on my cab with 4-ways, and on my keyboard.  The keyboard is MUCH more accurate.  This game really benefits from precise controls.

That is not random, they appear when you are in drawing mode and stay in one spot for too long.

Edit : I stand corrected. I just encountered for the first time ever a whole bunch of them in round three. They went away after they killed me.

Yeah, upon playing more, i realized that.  I think it keeps a clock of total time stopped on each stage.  Or at least that's what it seems like.  Beginning on stage 2, I get a death by those things at least once per stage.  There are just times when i can't seem to go anywhere, unless i want instant death.

IIRC you can kill those star things by clearing an area they are passing in same as the other obstacles

If you are just getting the one for styaing immobile too long, no problem, you just move to ged rid of it. I had a swarm of them, several of them onscreen at the same time, the whole thing lasting some seconds until I got killed. I don't know how long this would have lasted, but you definetely cannot kill all of those.

Havent tried this game yet, but looking it up, it kinda reminds me of jezzball, except you can go in any direction.

99.9% gives you a 500,000 pt bonus. If there is a a million, it's not obvious.

After a quick google If the first thing you do is wait for the dragon thing to go into a single piece, then quickly cut it off and blow it up you get a million point bonus

I actually had a hunch, when you had been quiet for a little longer than usual, that you were going to come back with the score maxed at just under 10mil. I wasn't TOO far off!

Seems like I'm becoming predictable 

I'll try to beat the game just for the heck of it, but rounds 12 and higher are really hard to do with my crappy gamepad. My highest round was 13 so far.

I know that feeling. WakiMiko made 39 points last year playing 19 games, I made 39 points playing 21.

There's many videos on YouTube of ppl playing through all 16 levels, and reaching the score cap of 9,999,990.
They do ever 1mil bonus possible, with the exception of a few levels
