It's banned indoors, it's banned near doorways, and supposedly I work in a 150+ acre area of a tobacco free zone if a city ordinance is to be enforced. Do get a kick out of the patients at MD Anderson pushing around their saline bags while smoking in the gardens. Anyone hassling those people deserves a punch in the nuts, IMO. --- End quote --- I have asthma. As far as I'm concerned you should only be allowed to smoke or "vape" if you have a plastic bag around your head so the smoke doesn't get out. Smokers shouldn't feel bad though, I feel the same way about perfume counters and people that wear too much of the cheap stuff. The are other people around you. If your nasty habit doesn't effect anyone else then knock yourself out, but otherwise just quit. |

Smokers only bug me when they come to my desk (right after smoking a cigarette) and get about 6 inches from my face when leaning in to look at my screen to ask a question... The vape thing, I agree completely, it stinks worse than cigarette smoke. Frankly I don't think smokers and vapers know just how utterly offensive their smoke and odors are to someone who not only doesn't smoke but is also hyper-sensitive to smells and tastes. My office has the server closet in it, and that room has no drop ceiling, and the space above is always a slightly different temp/air pressure, so consequently, any air on my half of the building will quickly wander into my office, including smelly food being cooked and the worst: when people spray half a can of fabreeze in the bathroom then turn off the fan and leave the door open... My God I have had to flee my office at times to keep from throwing up. I can handle a little ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- smell, but that crap in a can that supposedly covers it up is the worst. Number one for me though would be people walking into my office regardless of if I am on the phone or focused on other issues and exclaim "There's an error on my computer!" When I give them the flat stare waiting for them to elaborate, they look at me like that was enough information to fix any problem. Usually I start digging in my drawer until they ask what I am looking for, to which I respond, "My magic wand, I am sure it's in here somewhere." Never sure if they just want me to wave my hands around and fix the problem or drop everything I am doing to go and look at the error because they somehow lost the ability to read the moment their computer didn't do what they expected it to do. This is closely followed by other verbose requests for tech support like: "Email stopped working" "Can you ping my printer?" "My internet is broken" and the one that bugs me the most "Your system doesn't work" (as if it is my system, and I control companies like Microsoft, Cisco, or Intel) |

The WORST thing I've ever had to do with "employee tech support" was when I asked an employee why she wasn't clocked in and working (ten minutes past her shift start). She says, "The screen is black, and the power button on the monitor isn't working." I looked at her PC, and turned it on... and walked off before I said something HR wouldn't be proud of. |

OMG, I forgot the most annoying: "You changed my password!" Which of course I didn't. At that point I usually tell them to try again and when it works this time because they actually typed their password in right, they respond "Whatever you just did worked, thanks!" and hang up. 95% of the "support" I give is either standing there while they do whatever didn't work and watching it work "this time" or simply asking them to try again. The only upside is I don't have to do anything but absorb their dumbness to fix the problem. I need one of these: |

What always bugged me most is people who leave their dirty dishes to soak in a break room sink that 100's of people share. What if everyone did that? Hell, one is annoying enough. Don't have to worry about it anymore since I telecommute now, though the wife and kids are annoying sometimes. :P There are a plethora of things that annoyed me over the years working in a cube environment especially. Way to many to even list. Maybe I'm easily annoyed. |
