Rygar is THE reason I got into mame and building cabs--nicely done!  I have the bezel in decent condition if someone needs a scan of it.  I'm going to ditch the ninja turtles theme and re-theme my cab to Rygar!

Thanks for the great work!

Good work.

My brother loved the NES port. I'll send him the link.

Sweet! If you can scan the bezel at high res that would be great.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but I'm fairly new to vector art... I've used vector magic a few times to automatically convert normal images into vector images. Is there any reason why you can't use such a program to do this automatically?

I use Vector magic quite frequently for simple vectorization - but it will never give you the same level of control of the result as doing it manually.

With regards to the scan--I probably couldn't do any better than what is out there..

Did the sideart progress any further?  I haven't had much luck getting a source for that--other than the spanish (?) zona arcade..

Welcome aboard, Tronbc.   ;D

Looks like he edited the post and removed the link, possibly because it was no longer working.
(Some sites limit the number of downloads or amount of time that files are available for download.)

If you like, you can send him a PM using the icon under his username.

Sorry to resurrect an decade-old thread, but credits where credits are due.

Thank you so much for vectoring the Rygar marquee, it's incredibly hard to find this marquee in high quality.

That being said, after searching nearly an hour before finding this thread, I stumbled upon the following photo.

I thought I knew what this marquee was supposed to be like, but this photo seems to show an extremely rare marquee with more details than I've ever seen. Could this be the original from Namco and all the others we've seen are bad copies of this one?

There are two major differences that makes me believe this is the original:
1. There is less crop at the bottom than I've ever seen in decades.
2. On the "tricerator" monster on the right, you can see "red fur" which is usually shown as complete red or even black on a lot of other marquees, sometimes even seeming to be the leg of the headless monster.

So my question is, does anyone have a scan of this particular version of the Rygar marquee?

edit: turns out I've been using this "correct" marquee with the red/brown fur pattern on the tricerator all along, except that mine is only 500x173 and is a tiny bit cropped at the bottom, see the fighter's foot. And the fur is so dark on mine that I never really noticed. Long story short, I'm still looking for a higher resolution version that's as complete as the photo.

edit 2: there's one marquee on arcadeartwork.org that seems to have the fur pattern but it's so dark that I needed to zoom a lot to see any of it. Color correction should bring it up.

Why are there so many versions of this marquee, with so many variations on the colours? I'm starting to think multiple versions were made by different suppliers with different printing capabilities and some of them either didn't match the colours correctly or simply skipped some colours altogether.
