My brother has one of those. They're pretty bad-ass, and very easy to modify the insides. I asked him if he would ever sell it, which he quickly responded "Hell no numb-nuts. I love this baby and ain't never getting rid of it!". So I guess that's that. :lol

--- Quote from: dkersten on July 31, 2015, 07:59:31 pm ---How many married men here had to ask their wife for permission to build/buy/restore and arcade cab?  If you raised your hand, your man card is down in the basement next to your favorite recliner.

--- End quote ---

If she has to ask me for big purchases, I have to ask her. Its called mutual respect and compromise. My MAME cab is in my living room but our bedroom is painted dark purple. I'll take what I can get.

+1 Malenko. If there is one thing I have learned. A happy wife is a happy life.   ;)

Nah, I never ask her permission for these kind of things 'cause I don't ever want her to think she has the power that I have to run things by her.

Instead, I just make a judgement call on how this would effect her, or how much nagging and bitching I want to endure, then decide on whether it's worth it or not. 'Cause in the end, whatever I decide, someone ain't gonna be happy...and honestly, I've learned long ago that trying to tip-toe around my wife doesn't do anything but make me feel like ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- and that I'm here to cater to her needs 100% of the time. I'm not subservient, I do not condone the princess-mentality. Ain't no one got time for that.

Luckily my wife and I have a mutual understanding when it comes to our interests, and I'm happy to say that after 10+ years we still regard each other as equals -- both of us "pulls our own weight" in our relationship.

I work in a creative field with many introvert-types, and time and time again I see my fellow nerds being subjugated by their great-looking wives for fear of pissing them off. They think if they don't go out of their way to make their ladies happy 100% of the time, they'll just leave. It always makes me sad because they're all good, intelligent, successful men who do not deserve to be under the iron-fist of a pretty tyrant.
If a woman is going to leave or berate you for doing things that make you happy, then I say let them go. You're better off without, and as the old cliche says: there are many fish in the sea... as long as you have the skills to catch a fish, you'll be fine.
