NHL 2 on 2 Open Ice project
« on: May 18, 2015, 12:47:03 pm »
I'm gonna make my own cabinet for this game. I done a few mame cabinets before but not any using real pcb boards. So far all I have is the PCB board for the open ice game. Need help with power supply for it and wire harness. I'm guessing a jamma harness will work? Not sure about power supply though.

Get a quality power supply and a good JAMMA harness and you should be fine. I assume you're using a real CRT?

I have an Open Ice board on it's way to me from the Great White North. It's not working, but I have another board to do a ROM swap with. I'm planning on putting it in my NBA Jam cab with a JAMMA switcher to make an NBA Jam/Open Ice combo machine. Good luck!

Good luck on your cabinet. I want to use a flat screen. You made me think of sething. I do have a working NFL blitz and Nba Showtime combo. Will that board work in that cabinet.

It is JAMMA, but I think those cabs use 49-way joysticks. Not sure what would happen.

if you have 49 way sticks, it wont work.
if you run a medium res monitor it wont work.

to clarify, the sportstation boards can use 8 ways and standard red, but typically use 49 ways and medium res.

go to the art section, I repro made some open ice art. PSDs and everything free to download and use.

I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

DOH!!! That would have been to easy. What power supply do I need to run it? Would a new standard jamma harness work?

Power supply, I would get something like this: http://na.suzohapp.com/all_catalogs/power_supplies/80-0064-00. You might be able to find it cheaper on eBay.

As far as JAMMA harnesses go, spend some $$$ on a quality one. You can find them for $10, but you'll get a $10 quality harness. Spend $$$ on one that has the appropriate guage wires for the power circuits. http://na.suzohapp.com/all_catalogs/power_supplies/80-5100-00

The link for power supply is wrong. It's pulls up some glass cleaner lol. I'll definitely get the good jamma cable.

Weird, it does that for me, too. Do a search on Happ's site for Power Supplies. It's the Power Pro 110W UL, CE Power Supply.

Having trouble finding the right Jamma harness. I'll need a 4 player harness

You'll never find one. There's no such thing. On a 4 player cab, you usually have extra wiring connectors that you use in conjunction with the regular JAMMA harness for P3 and P4.
