Game Name: Land Sea Air Squad
  ROM Name: lsasquad
      Settings: Default (3 lives)

Controls: 8 way Joystick, 2 buttons

Riku Kai Kū Saizensen (陸海空最前線), released as Land Sea Air Squad for the United States, and also known as Storming Party, is a vertical scrolling shooter arcade game that had been released by Taito Corporation in 1986.  The player must use an 8-way joystick to take control of a soldier, with two buttons to make him fire shots and throw grenades at enemies - and he shall occasionally have to pilot helicopters, tanks, and boats in order to reach the next stage.

Last day: Sunday, Aug. 31st 2014 midnight Pacific
--------------------------------------------

General Rules:
- One Credit, No Continues.
- Highest score wins.
- No savestates, savestate practices, etc. during the round.
- MAME INP recordings are encouraged but optional.
- A screenshot is required to enter a score (press F12 to save screenshot showing your final score) or take a photo of the game screen.
- If you're a MARP competitor on this title, keep in mind this is just a friendly competition among forum members, so maybe you shouldn't enter. However, if you're a forum member and this is a game you're good at and nobody knows about it, this is your time to shine!
- Even if you don't have a competitive score or if you don't *think* that you have a competitive score, please post it anyway to keep the thread fun & to give everybody a good sense of score ranges.
- Please make sure your scores are from games that take place during the competition period (no posting your best score from last year, etc.).
- Use of autofire or other non-standard hacks within MAME or your PC's OS are not allowed.  No program or other person or entity of any sort may manipulate your controls during your game.  Coaching & back-seat driving is fine as long as the party doesn't directly influence the game or controls.
- If you can beat any of the high scores from the previous competitions, you can submit your score to the BYOAC High Game Scoreboard.

- Quest for the Bronze Joystick! The most successful competitor of each calendar year will possess & display the BYOAC Bronze Joystick Trophy. See this thread for details:The BYOAC Bronze Joystick.
Happy Gaming!

Yeah, so, pre-heat index in the garage, it was 99 degrees on the control panel yesterday.  I've tried making those ice chest coolers, and let me tell you those things are a damned joke in humid climates.  By the time I posted that score, I thought I was going to faint.

This game is kinda cute.  Seems the trick is to keep moving.

I'm in Houston too, and it's been ridiculous.  Can't open the door to the garage without feeling like I'm getting slapped.  I was going to attempt to try one of those homemade ice cooler things but now I know better.

I used to play this game at the local bowling alley in Cleveland.  I like it better than Commando.   Can't get past that 4th board!

8 years ago, if memory serves correctly, I lived in St. Louis, MO.  Between then and now I did some time in San Antonio, TX.

All I can say is nothing bankrupts like the phrase, "I'm bored, let's move."

A little surprised that not more people are playing this.  :dunno

I didn't realize how important your shots fired to hit ratio was until this morning.  If you get a high percentage you get a 50k bonus, and I got a 100k bonus for getting 100% (although I swear I missed a shot or two).

Give it a chance, hater. It's like double IPAs, extremely dark chocolate, and single malt scotch.  Grows on you.

Double IPAs are swell.

As far as dark dark chocolate, scotch, & LSAS, I don't have time to invest in giving them a chance. If they don't grab me quickly, then I turn to something grabbier...like Space Zap...

What the hell just happened???

You and a handful of other whiners failed to submit a decent score, that's what happened.

But really what just happened was that Jasonbar complained about the game, I said it was an acquired taste, then in his infinite laziness he typed 'LSAS' in the same sentence as 'chocolate' and 'scotch' which confused me.
Momentarily.

Plug in your keyboard -- this game plays fine with the directional arrows and Ctrl and Alt keys !

Finally got a couple decent runs.   I have given up on shooting everything and just running as fast as possible.   I like the helicopter best.   I am kind of confused though, no aliens or bricks?

I lived in Friendswood when the Challenger blew up.  We watched it live at school.  Bad times.  It is kinda funny, though.  So many people here are recent transplants that me saying, "I lived in Friendswood as a kid" garners some respect.  I'm sure it was all of a year but hey.

Slight improvement but low scoring for how far I got. Missed the cherub/angel bonus, too. This game is giving me a thumb blister - haven't had one of those gaming, in a while!

Again, do not underestimate the hit/shots fired bonus.   Big money.

No doubt!

I got to the same level as you but only got 235k!   Too lazy to post a picture right now.

I managed to fight my way onto the aircraft carrier with my last guy and finally got the helicopter that sits there, but the game would have none of that.  Then the doorbell rang (pizza) while I was putting in my name.
