Need help with a Galaxian/Galaga Cabinet restore!

Okay, I bought what I thought was a Galaga machine at what I can only describe as an arcade junkyard here in Montgomery. I only paid $50 for it, but it was obviously not working. At first I thought that I would MAME it, but now after looking around around, I realized that I wanted to make it original again. So after looking into this, I discovered that I had not a Galaga cabinet, but a Galaxian one that had been converted to a Galaga one. What tipped me off was the envelope that I found in the bottom last night with all these electrical diagrams for Galaxian, that the cabinet was made in 1979, the overlay is Galaxian, and it had green T-molding.

Here is the album of Pics that I took last night:

So, now I am at an impasse, as I don't really know where to go from here. Would it be a tragedy to fully convert this into a Galaga machine? Should I 60 and 1 it? Just gut it all out and throw a MAME PC in it? Or should I restore it to the original Galaxian?

The truth is, that this is my first project, and I couldn't even tell you what is missing in it. I am assuming that the PCB is missing, as that one connector in the photo that I am holding looks like it would plug into it. So please, take a look at the album, and give me some advice on how to move forward with this project.

Thanks!
Generic Eric:
1.)Restore the cabinet to Galaxian.
2.)Mame it to play only vertical oriented games with 1 button
3.)Mod control panel with a http://www.ultimarc.com/servostik.html
4.)Config Frontend that only displays vertical games with 1 button
5.)?
6.)Profit

Well, the thing is, it seems to be missing a lot of components. Any idea on where I can acquire them?
Malenko:
I visually restored my first galaga to look 100% like a galaga. BUt since the boards were toast I wired it for jamma and put a 60 in 1 in it.

To me, Galaga is a much better game than Galaxian, so worst case, make it a Galaga

Unless you really, really want to hunt for Galaxian parts, see above.
