Outrun stand-up cab project
offset:
This is awesome, I've always wondered how difficult it would be to use MAME for a driver, a lot of variables of input to MAME support I imagine.
I have a couple driving arcades (Sega Turbo, Sega Super Hang On, Atari Pole Position), but none with MAME. Sega Outrun is on my list of games to buy, would buy a project cab as well if having it run with MAME is possible.

well guys, got the cab sanded down, repaired in a few areas and painted this weekend!! It was kind of a pain the balls but one more final coat of paint and it should be good. I spent some time this weekend lurking driving cab builds on this site and I'm now seriously considering picking up a G27 and mounting it in this cab. As far as I can tell, I should be able to just mount the G27 (unmodified) right to the cab (with existing control panel fully removed) and cut the existing control panel to fit around it and/or fabricate something (similar to what it appears gbeef did on his outrun sitdown cab). I don't think I would need to extend the shaft.
Amazon has the G27 for $225.00. Do you think I should go for it? I'm thinking I may be selling myself short if I don't do a FFB setup... thoughts?? Also, is the G27 compatible with most of the EMU software out there? OI'm guessing yes since so many people are going to such lengths to make them work in their cabs...

Got the Outrun cab painted.. Was able to make the huge hole for the coin door padlock thingy disappear..
Wanting to hurry this cab up now as I think I may just mod a San Francisco Rush cab and get serious about it. :)

I used a U-HID Nano in my Power Drift cab as the boards were beyond help. Very easy to set up and works a treat!

Some Daytona 2 action on the outrun cab. Still a major whip but fun :)
