Pclinuxos lxde is a nice lightweight distro. I run the KDE version.
Also been playing with slitaz lately.
Very small and very lightweight.
But not for people completely new to Linux however the devs and a few other users are usually around to help people that post issues in the forum.

PClinuxos also has a live usb creator with persistence.
I've run it off an SD card on an old laptop & plan to run my mame cab off an SD to ide adaptor with this if I can't get Slitaz set up the way I want (which also has an option for live usb image creation.

I can check tonight if these distro's have drivers for via unichrome.
A quick google search does show ubuntu might have drivers for the video card on these thin clients.

Lubuntu is a fast and lightweight operating system. The core of the system is based on Linux and Ubuntu. I think, it will be suitable for this work.

I have a wyse wt1200le and a wyse x150se lying around. There processors are a lot less than a gig. Are they capable of usb booting such as lakka? Or should I just bin them both and go for a gig + processor and equivalent ram/storage???
I have burned an image to usb of lakka and it runs ok on the laptop I burned it from, but it doesn't load on the x150se. Is this a no goer???
