If you don't mind my asking, would you share what dimensions you were able to deduce from the build? Been watching and sad to see it end this way. I loved that DK Jr build on KLOV, too.
I worked with Haruman in getting dimensions together off a severely water damaged atari cabaret last year, and he was able to get a cad program made up. Someday I hope to get a couple reproduced for projects I'm working on.
If you are within distance of him or Rick they can get a new cab cut to keep your project going. Or maybe point you out to a good cnc solution. Can't speak for them, though.
But sharing some refined measurements would definitely be step in not seeing this project die completely.
Unfortunately neither Rick nor Haruman are anywhere near me.
As for the dimensions, of course. I never posted them here because there just didn't seem to be much interest in them and they are very incomplete. Not really sure why anyone would want them really. A competent woodworker should have no problems deducing the rest of the dimensions. I will be posting up the dimensions for the speaker placement and the control panel later. I have those dimensions too but never did draw out plans for them.
I actually put up the prelim dimensions on klov some time ago to help a guy that wanted to build one but also in hopes to lure some of the guys that had original nin cabs to contribute. The guys who have one never posted further dimensions in order to help those that wanted to make one.
some personal notes: - I made my cab a little different in order to create the unit out of a single sheet of 49x96 sheet of 3/4" MDF. The dimensions attached are based off of the original, not my personal modifications.
- the original cab uses a combination of 9/16" and 5/8" wood. You will need to adjust your plans, especially the base to accommodate your wood thickness
- The dimensions attached are to scale from various threads on klov. the rest was extrapolated from guess-work and from examining the sketchup model available.
- the sketchup model available online has been confirmed to be very inaccurate. use it as a final resort.
- I did not leave a vertical gap between the top and side panels on mine. You should though. Looks lots better. Judging from pictures of the original, the gap is anywhere between 3/16 - 1/4 inch.
- There are absolutely no accurate dimensions for any of the back panels. I guessed them all. If you want my measurements, I'll be more than happy to measure mine out for you.
- I found that the top panel tends to impede vision a bit. The plans for them are accurate according to owners i found on Klov but you may need to adjust these to your own liking.
- The vision issues could also be attributed to the angle of the control panel and monitor bezel i created. Nobody has put up any confirmed dimensions for the angle.
- I guessed the angle of the control panel and monitor as 3 inches or so from the top of the back half of the cab.
- My second cut of a control panel and monitor mount, I made it into a horizontal oriented setup. I found the angle to not be high enough for horizontal games. You may need to adjust the angle.
- because i did not know the angle of the monitor setup, I did not cut the top vent holes on the back support slab. Instead, i cut a similar design on the back door panel instead.
- There are no dimensions for the base available. If you plan on having rear casters on the cab, just use your best judgement in creating it. I made mine from cheap 1x3 lumber. If i had to do it again, I would use 1x4 lumber.
