This post would have been funny if it said:
ask first. (even before you think about bringing it home)
source: divorced.

Well, she's right on 2 counts (ugly is subjective ;) )
There's no way it could go in one of those other rooms? How bout drop the legs and put it in the closet for now (till you get more space)?
Unfortunately, I know this pain. A pin really needs a dedicated gameroom, unless you're both enthusiasts. I always thought it could be cool to turn a pin into a coffee table, short legs, a flip down backglass, etc. But you certainly wouldn't want to hack up a nice working pin for that.
So, short answer. Maybe it'd be better to take cash, and leave the pin for a day when you have a little more space (and distance between your neighbors)

got any friends with houses that could accommodate for a while? with visitation rights?

Thanks for the advice guys!
I had a talk with her to today (if you can call it that) and just as I expected she "flipped" out (far fetched pun intended).
I am hoping she will war up to the idea though, she had these kinds of objections when I told her I wanted a movie projector and now she loves it, but if I would ask her she would say that a 32" crt tv will do just as well (liar). But I'm betting she will not come to like the pin but all I need is for her to tolerate it.

Tell her the pin2000 machine is smaller than a standard pinball, so it won't take up quite as much room as a regular pinball machine.
if still not, tell her you can get it and if she really doesn't like it you can fix it up and flip it for a profit.
