--- Quote from: shaman06 on February 09, 2017, 03:29:13 pm ---I am thinking about putting a shelf in the back and adding speakers and a projector for a fully self contained system that would be "semi" portable. --- End quote --- Here's one possible way to work around the vibration problem. Instead of having the projector permanently mounted in the control panel, make a projector docking bay for storage/transport. When you set the system up, put the projector on one stable surface (like a microphone stand with a platform on top) and the control panel on a different surface. --- Quote from: pbj on February 09, 2017, 11:50:54 pm ---That said, do it anyway. If it works it'll be awesome. --- End quote --- That's what I'm thinking. It might need to be done just to say it's been done. It is a cool concept even if execution doesn't quite work out. Plus PL1's idea can be used for the shelf if it doesn't work. I could attempt to modify the pedestal to dampen vibration but I'm not sure there would be a good way to do it. I saw a different forum where someone made something similar and claimed it wasn't an issue but that post seems pretty dead so I don't think I can follow through to see if he changed his mind. I suppose I could find a way to suspend the projector but that seems like overkill. For now it will be a normal projector (I already have an old one) but I'm hoping to make use of a short throw in the long run to help cut down on the distance needed. |

Really like this build! Been looking for a simple base for my 4P pedestal and this looks like it. Quick question, with a 2 x 2 base like you have, has it been fairly stable over the years? Would you make it larger if you built again? |

Stability has never been an issue, and I've had four obese men pounding TMNT simultaneously. |
