Where abouts in Cali? I'm in the greater Sacramento area.
SegaOutrun:
Los Angeles. In the Valley.

Desert tank is an odd duck in terms of controls. The original game's primary controls are very similar to a star wars yoke. So that's the sort of controls you need to control the turret easily.
Fursphere:
Found a picture of the control panel (wasn't hard). The hand grips look just like what Spy Hunter used. Does the whole thing move in and out like a flight yoke? or does it rotate forward and back? Trying to figure out how the turrent control works. Looks like a Chase HQ shifter (without the button).
Howard_Casto:
I can't say for sure, I only played it once years ago in passing.
From what I remember the gearshift changes gears between forwards and reverse (duh), you've got pedal for acceleration (which is really odd for a tank) the yoke rotates left and right to steer and the whole thing moves forwards/back to adjust the turret height. That bit isn't spring loaded though, so you set the height and can leave it there. That's the issue you guys are going to run into. Probably the easiest fix is to use a paddle controller.
