* Very cool screensaver
Very true, my kids love the screensaver (since we use cocktail table as coffee table, having running FIFjr in the background is pure win).

Hey Guys! Sjaak!,
I super excited, my FiFjr Cab is Getting really close to being finished!

I'm having a few issues programming wise, maybe I can get a little help...

Im using The Hyperspin Frontend (on Windows 7 Pro) to load 2 different versions of this game... (the reason is Sjaaks version is not quite final and I'm using both for place holders to show off the game)
The Di$ney version and Sjaaks, Sjaaks is superrior, but still in beta and still showing not registered on the latest version, so I'm utilizing the option to have both on this machine.

I'm taking this machine to our familys river house this July, 1 week from now, and I wont be able to get to this machine  for months after I leave it there. So I need a no-problems way to play this game asap, so as of now , the di$ney version is the only one not looking unfinished (even though it is unfinished)

That is the first issue, the 2nd issue is when having both versions on the same pc, when I load the Di$ney version, it loads no problem every time, after I load the D version and then try to load the Sjaak version, it wont load for several tries, once it finally loads, it loads every time no problem, until I load the D version, then it takes several tries again  to get Sjaaks version to finally load... anyone know why? or some how to clear something or refresh something to get both versions to load every time, is there some sort of resource they share? Sjaak, can you look into this maybe?

Anyway, I love your version, but I cant let anyone play it at the river house for months with it saying "not registered" and not loading fine, otherwise screw the Di$ney Unfinished Version, Great work Sjaak, it really is a great piece of software!

^ to get read of the not registered text, you need to put a pic with the id number on the bottom of the screen so sjaak can register it. As for the issue with booting the games. I had a few versions living on my desktop that would interfere with each other somehow but I basically separated them with folders in folders etc. Maybe that might help you

Btw, the cab is looking nice
good lucky

Sjaak, great work!  one small request maybe? is there some way we can add the voices at the beginning by option?   "Im gonna wreck it" "Fix it felix" and "I can fix it"  ?
I think it really sets the game off!

I was not planning on doing that. But since so many people are asking, it's going to be an option in the next version. Disabled by default.

 :applaud: for the voices. In the same vein, the "ding-ding-ding-dong" hammer noise like in the film would be peachy too.

Thanks for all of your work on this, Sjaak. It really does shine.

I've tried changing the shell in the registry and tried using InstantSheller to start right into the game exe rather than explorer but it doesn't seem to pick up the game.ini file correctly when I do so. It starts in horizontal, windowed mode without any other options from the ini applied. Is there a trick to getting Windows to start directly into the FixItFelixJr.exe app and reading the game.ini properly?

I found a solution to my problem. It's round-about and clunky but seems to work. I used EventGhost simply to auto-start FIFJr. I selected the option to run at startup and minimize to the system tray. I then used InstantSheller to start EventGhost as the shell.

Like I said, it's clunky but works. If anyone has any better ideas, please let me know.

If shelling to the program directly causes an issue, you could try shelling to a batch file or auto hotkey executable that runs the app.  I've done that once or twice before with other games and its simple fix. And you wont have to use event ghost.

I would opt for autohotkey as its pretty flexible.

A have a few questions.

My monitor is 27" and displays at 1024X768, what would be the correct value to add to the game.ini in order to run full screen?

Width=1024
Height=768

^?

Also having some graphic glitches, I do not see the people throw Ralph off the hotel but I do see him hit the ground. I made the window 480X480 just to make sure nothing was getting cut off if I had the above resolutions wrong. I also don't see where Felix says "I can fix it!" right before the start of the game, only a black screen.

If you were given a copy of the game by Sjaak then there will be a text file in Dropbox where you post your problems.

Also Sjaak.  I was giving it some thought.  I know most everyone is using this program on a PC.  Have you given any thought to porting it to a ROM so that it could be installed to a PCB?  Sorry for my off-key lingo.  I'm more of a hardware guy.  My feeble brain has a hard time keeping up with software terminology.   :D

To port it to a rom, first you need to choose the hardware platform (dk hardware, pacman hardware, neo geo, or about a 1000 others). Then you need to fuigure out how to program a Z8070 cpu with a XYZ659281 video chip and a XYZABC23839 sound chip, which is a problem, because there's almost no documentation on that. Then rewrite all the high level c# code with full directx support to machine code.

I'm sure it can be done, but it's easier to just buy a motherboard (which is a pcb) with onboard video and tape a ssd to that (install windows and you're done).

Also: Does anyone else have this problem?

Apparantly it has something to do with this update from july 9th:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin/ms13-057

Can anyone confirm that this update was installed and maybe do a rollback?

I probably have this update installed but will not be able to check until tonight.

Man... I hate to say it but thank goodness I am not the only one with this issue. I was really starting to worry what the heck I was doing wrong!  :dunno

...or wait. Are they saying my prior post is the problem. Many I am alone.  :dizzy:

I stumbled across this Mockumentary video the other day for the first time. Some of you may have already seen it, but here it is.

Garlan Hulse: Where Potential Lives - An exposé about one time Fix-It Felix Jr. high score champion Garlan Hulse, his fall into obscurity, and his attempt to be on top again.

Sjaak,

Been searching the net for building my own system and it led me here...
I would like to support the growing popularity of your FIFJr emu.

How can one obtain a version of your FIFJr version?

Thanks, String.
