Right on, of course they are art, they have spawned an entire new genre of visual communication and representation of our world. I'd say Pac-Man or Space Invaders are just as influential as a Van Gogh or Monet if not moreso on our culture.

I think it depends on how they showcase the game...  Pac-Man is easy.  I say an original Pac-Man machine sitting in a room against a wall is just as interesting to look at as a Van Gogh painting.  However, they have games in that article that have no physical being like Sim City 2000.  How do you display it?  Do you get an old computer, load it up and let it sit there?  What about Legend of Zelda?  Do you take the cartridge and mount it on a wall?  The original Arcade Machines, Cocktail Tables, Pinball Machines are definately works of art...  I'm not so sure about everything else!

From what I understand from the article they are referring to the games themselves being the art rather than the physical object in which they are housed.

Yeah it sounds like they will just have prints of the game hung on walls, probably the most recognizable levels or parts.

I'll check it out when I get back to NYC (currently with family in WA until New Years.) Maybe take some pics. To my understanding they will actually have video/displays of actual gameplay, not just stills. I don't know if anything is actually playable, but like I said I'll report back when I get a chance.
