Kfam:
Thanks. First I'd like to point out that you can currently and will always be able to set ANY "button" to any key you want. You can do this in the key settings.

1. I decided that among what you describe here, I will also put in other ways and give you an option to pick which way you like best.

2. This kinda fits in to my answer to 1

3. Once again this fits in with 1 and as I said above you will be able to set them to what ever key you want.

4. Same as above, you'll be able to set it to any key, but it would make since to add this to one of the functions the "select" key does.

5. This is pretty much how it currently works. You use "up" and "down" to select a track and then press "select" to pick it. Also, right now there is a "select all" key too, but I belive you are asking for a select all to be listed on the track list. I'm sure I can do that.

6. This is what the "Return" key does. ONce again, you can set it to what ever key you want.

7. This is also already in and is even set to the ESC key by default. By default it does ask you if your sure, but that can be turned off (I only got it in cause I've had a prob with people pressing the ESC key not knowing it would exit)

9. Heres the tip from my site explaining how the volume thing works:

--- Quote ---Have Low Quality/Volume Songs?
PartyBox can remember different volume settings for each song. If one of your songs have a lower volume then the others, you can go to the general settings and check 'Remember Song Volumes'. Then, for example, you can set the default volume to 50%. When the low volume song play just raise the volume to 100%. Now it will always play at 100% volume while other songs will be at 50%. Just turn up the volume on your speakers so you can hear the low volume song and now the normal ones won't be to loud when they play.
--- End quote ---

I controll the master volume from my speakers, so I never really thought of setting keys for a master volume, but I could look into it. I only put the current volume feature in cause I got tired of adjusting the volume for songs that were low, and then the next song coming on and being to loud.

10. Another thing I never really thought about, since I would probably pause before I used mute. If it is really wanted though I could put it in too.

Also here is a link to the tips section on my site. It has a lot of usefull info on using PartyBox http://members.iglou.com/kfam76/tips.html

Thanks for the answers. Yes I know that a lot of what I describe is already in place, which is why it's probably not too bad to get it 100% arcade control compatible, I was just trying to be comprehensive in describing what I was envisionning the interface to be. I also think it's greewat you made the keys configurable from the start, once again I was "thinking aloud" about what keys I'd be using on my own panel.

on 5) Yes I'd like a select all to be added, for example jsut before the list of track (if you've used VMJ, it has an option to do that).

on 10) I agree with you, Pause is better than Mute, forget about mute...

My speakers are embedded in the cabinet and I haven't yet figured out a way to adjust the volument from the speakers themselves (the volume button is not accessible at the moment). While I will probably eventually figure out a way to change the volume at the speaker level, I still think volume keys would be useful (but optional).

By the way, I like the web page, clean and simple, you didn't try to go crazy with eyecandy...

Alcohol:
i have to say iam very impressed with this program..
i use arcade jukebox 7 atm but somtimes find that its a toil going thruough all the albums to get to the one you want, as i put lp's in my box and not singles

i would use this in my cabinet if i could navigate the lp's using the joystick.. all the other controls seem as if they would work well considering you can map all the keys.. i have a 2 player cabinet so i recon theres enough buttons available

so all it really needs is a better looking skin and the ability to select lp's with the joystick.. anything more than that will be a bonus

good work!!

If your using Visual basic for your app you should try setting the form background to a image.

This way you can have the program skinable :)

you would have to make 1 or 2 images for the program and these would just be in the background instead of the grey background but you can make it look quite interesting making it look complicated or simplistic :)

I just did a very quick pic of how it can look like with a skin.

I have only done a few things but you get how it would work :) you can skin the whole thing if you wanted to i just skinned a few small bits as a demo ;)

Kfam:
Thanx for all the comments.

Yeah, like I said above (at least I think i did), I've already had a skin on it in the very beginning stages of development doing something like that. However since I was constently changing the look of PartBox, I would have to make a new skin. Eventually I just tok the skin out to wait till the interface wasn't changing as much. Now that I've released it, I can go ahead and put the skins back in. That way even if the interface does change, you all will still be able to make your own new skins untill I have time to make one. Anyways, the whole point of having skins is so the users can make thier own.
