New jukebox freeware

(1/11) > >>

Kfam:
I started this program after using VMJ for a while. I liked VMJ, but some things about it just wasn't the way I wanted, so I decided to make my own. The site is a little simple right now cause I don't have time to work on it for a few days, but I'll have more info and forums up soon. It's called PartyBox (since I mostly use it for parties) and it's freeware. I'll take requests for features, but can't make promises. I'm making this for my own use and decided to share. It still wouldn't hurt to ask though, since most of the features I put in came from actual use of the program and seeing the need for the feature. Once again until the site is fully up, you can ask questions here. You can read the readme in the folder you install to or by selecting it in the help menu.

One note: This was made and tested in WinXP (Home and Pro) and might not work in other versions of windows. WMP9 is also required (but is installed in XP by default anyway).

Bill_S:
Did you happen to have any screenshots?
I'm pretty lazy and want to know if I like the way it looks before I install it.

papaschtroumpf:
Yeah, I second that.
Freeware is great! Ever considered making it open source too?

Bill_S:
I had a flash of motivation and tried it out quick.
Here's a couple screenies.

Lave Laar:
I think it's great.  I'm not really into album jukeboxes but this one I liked.  At first it looks a little plain, but once you start to explore it you can tell that you have put a lot of work into it.  Very easy to set up.  A couple of suggestions :

1. Option to select what info you want displayed for the song. Artist / song / album. Read this info from the ID3 Tag.
2. A column on the selection screen displaying the songs currently selected.
3. Possiblilty to change color / fonts.  I realise you can change this from windows display settings,  but it would be nice to be able to change it directly in the program.  Maybe be able to put a picture at the background.
4. Option to stay at the selected album if you want to select more than one song from the album.
5. Highlight the selected songs in a different color.
6. On the infoscreen it would be nice to choose what elements you want to show.  E.g let the selected list fill the whole right side and not show the most popular songs.
7. Press any of the selection-keys to enter the selection-mode.

Great effort for a first release.  What did you use to write it ?
