crtemudriver for Visiontek 4350
« on: September 10, 2013, 05:16:21 pm »
Hi, has anyone had luck with installing the crtemudriver for the Visiontek 4350 in xp 64bit?  It reports as vendor 1002 and dev 955F. The modtool doesn't seem to work for 64bit, and even so I looked at the entries it created for the 32bit drivers and it still doesn't have anything for dev 9FF5. I edited the CA_76826.inf directly to try to force it, but had no luck.

If there is no way to fix this does anyone know of a place to buy a new 4350 that will work, since most of the new 4350 cards that I see tend to be Visiontek.

Thanks.

Seeing lots of issues with the HD4350 series..
Mine installs, but the PC won't boot without a proper monitor attached...

After running the removal tool I finally got the driver to install by adding the device id to the install.ini, driver.dat, ca_76826.ini, and the ca_76826.inf. But it won't start when the system reboots (yellow exclamation point). These visiontek cards may not be real 4350's or there is something else that I don't understand about them. I'll go buy a x300 for $10 :-)

Hi billfor,

Try now...
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Hi Calamity, thanks so much for the files. Those seemed to be similar to the edits that I made. I still can't get it to work (driver installs but will not start after reboot). I did run the aticimun.exe uninstaller before installing.

One issue in my original email that I noticed is that the 2nd time I typed the device info incorrectly.
The first one is the correct entry (955F) and not 9FF5.

I changed the id in the files you gave me to 955F, and am returning them just to confirm that I did it correctly.
One other thing about this card that I've noticed is that the sysys id is different from other 4300/4500's.
Maybe some other edit has to be made to the install files to get that to work?

The full device id string is:
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_955F&SUBSYS_44721545&REV_00\4&26CB67C8&0&0008

Just as a side note, the drivers that came with the card do work, so I think the hardware is OK. The generic ATI drivers from the ATI site won't recognize the card though, but I guess this is because it is a mobility series.
