I just came into possession of a nce 15" LCD touchscreen monitor, and have always wanted to make a dedicated touchscreen gaming system. Something like megatouch or touchmaster, but with a wider variety of games. However, I'm having trouble finding software that meets my needs. So I'm looking for suggestions (and links) from knowledgeable boardmembers. There are only a requirements:

1) Freeware titles only. I know of plenty of commercial games that will work great with the screen, but they tend to lack variety. I'm looking to include everything from card and puzzle games to action games and shooters.

2) No crippleware/demoware. I'm looking for full software programs only, without spam or ads of any sort.

3) No flash or online-only games. I don't mind if they are flash and can be downloaded, but the system I intend to build will not be connected to the internet.

Beyond that, anything goes. Touchscreen-specific games are just as good as games that can use a touchscreen but were not explictly designed to do so. Also, I don't care what specs are needed to run a given game, so feel free to list anything you consider to be worth it. And of course, including links to the games or their respective homepages is appreciated.

Thanks Again!

hi
excuse me
but do u understand
any game can be diven by a touch screen ?
u just need the proper driver's
for the touch screen
if it is linux driven then u need linux driver's
if it is window's driven driven then u need window's driver's
mame dose a fine job of both
driving games are out, golf is out,so are more
but card etc game's are just fine
90 odd percent are none maleware and or do not need internet con. just a usb port for up-dating
i do suggest u dig into mame a tad more

Shipping something from the U.S. to Canada for repair/exchange?  Please use USPS to avoid (additional?/excessive?) shipping charges.  PM me if you have any questions.

Ed,

Yes, almost any game can be driven by a touchscreen, but there are some games that take to it better then others. Likewise, there are some games actually designed for touchscreens, and work better with them. World of Goo is an example of the former; Crayon Physics is an example of the later. However. both of these are commercial games. I am looking for the obscure, unknown, forgotten, niche, or hidden gems that are routinely overlooked by most people.

Also, if you noticed, I'm not looking for MAME games. I know all about touchmaster, and some of the earlier similar games; that's not what I'm looking for. I'm also not using Linux, but rather Windows. That is a point I failed to make clear previously, and for that I apologize. However, everything else I listed still stands: I'm looking for freeware games that work well with a touchscreen alone, or are designed from the ground up to use a touchscreen - and a single touch screen at that, not a multitouch one. Many people on here have built their own touchscreen arcade units, and most use far more then just commercial products to do so.

So, no one wants to add even a few suggestions? Disappointing. I was expecting more input from the forum members.

I was on this same quest a few years ago. I couldn't find any downloadable games that were free and were worth playing.

I did find a cheap game pack at Walmart with poker and slot games for a few dollars.

I ended up at www.gamehouse.com for my games. There is a "fun ticket" that allows you to download and play games. It also allows you to keep 1 a month or so. Its not free but it's cheap for good games. I would suggest the try feature before you buy any to find out if they can be played without a keyboard. I remember one game I liked was great but required you to press the space bar during the cut scenes.

Free is a tough call.  There are quite a few that you can get for $$$, such as the Popcap Games collection (just search amazon for Popcap).

I've searched endlessly and considered making my own for quite a while, then gave up when I found a working Megatouch Force for $200.

And they might have expected some searching.  :P

A number of threads like this:

And nipsmg is correct about the free part.
Funny, but I thought GGKoul had linked to em in his thread but I didn't see them last week when I checked.  I never got around to doing an actual search though.   :dizzy:
