Ummm, the Graboids in Tremors don't jump out of the ground.

If anything, those are more like the Sand Worms from BJ.

And why in the world do iOS app developers absolutely insist on using virtual joysticks? WTF is wrong with these people?

Because its more responsive and precise than tilting. Also, check the options for tilt control. Really, why complain when you're at least given the choice?

I wasn't even considering the tilt as part of that equation.

Developers are practically handed a "new"  interface with 100% platform penetration and what do these developers do? Create a virtual joystick model. For some games, that's just downright stupid.

Interesting enough, the arcade cabinet changes from Tremors 2 to Tremors 3.

I think any random member here could have done a better job with that side art than the prop department of either of those films.
