Absolutely beautiful Ken, I'm sure she is going to keep it forever and someday maybe your great grandchildren will someday be playing it.
That serial number plate is a nice touch.

Thanks Paul and Yotsuya!
Hopefully I will be around to watch my great grand kids play a few games of Pacman on it!
I told Gracie that she will have to train her little sister on how to use it when she gets here (due in late May).
She said she sure would.
Her mom told me that Gracie asked her if she could have an arcade cake next year for her birthday! LOL.
The arcade experience still lives my friends! It still lives.

Great Job! I really like how neat your wiring is!

Can you tell me the part number and source for the relay you used in the power strip? I would like to copy that idea.

Thanks guys!! Appreciate the kind words!

Can you tell me the part number and source for the relay you used in the power strip? I would like to copy that idea.
Justin

The relay and socket i used was from Radio Shack:
Radio Shack #275-0220 10 Amp relay socket -- $2.99
Radio Shack #275-0218 10 Amp DPDT 12 VDC coil Relay -- $9.59
You can probably find them cheaper off the net, and the socket isnt totally necessary, but will make it easier to fix if the relay ever craps out.
Just about any relay will do, as long as the coil is 12 or 5 volts DC, and the contacts are rated for the current your system will pull (usually 10 amps is plenty), and make sure contacts are rated for the voltage you are switching (IE 125 VAC).
This thread has a better pic of how I mounted the socket, and it shows how to do it cheaper than what I did:

Hi Da'. I just tuned into this project for the 1st time now--I knew because it was yours that it would b amazing, & I was NOT disappointed. Bravo!

I have a dumb question: those beautiful labels on the wires running from your encoder & Led-wiz--duh, how'd u do that?  :dunno

Congratulations on a beautiful looking cab.  Very nicely documented as well, plenty of willingness to take advice from the BYOAC community.  Proof you can teach an ol dog new tricks (I include myself in the ol dog category BTW)  :).  Also the hands down winner for best happy child photo IMO.

cheers

It's a 2.25" available here at Paradise.

Sparkfun also has one here that is listed as a 2", but I'm pretty sure it's the same unit.

The only downside is the lack of mounting plates IIRC.

Degenatrons worked around that on a 12mm CP using this method.

EDIT: Updated mount method URL.

Ive been off here a while folks due to a new granddaughter! (Gracie has a little sister!)
Thanks for all the kind comments!
The labels I used are from a machine that prints on a tube that is heat shrinkable.
The trackball is the one from Sparkfun that PL1 linked to. I removed the leds from it and used a tri color led from Groovy Game Gear, that way it is controlled by the led wiz.

Ah, crap, u mean those aren't generally available?! Man, I'd love to have something that could do that! I imagine there's a more available alternative (that's prettier than my 'shred of masking tape with label sharp'ied on trick)?

Print the label on paper, trim to size and affix using scotch tape.

Leave enough of a header to get a solid grip (>1 wrap) on the wire then wrap tightly for 1 or 2 layers more and trim with scissors so the tail ends up opposite of the printing and neat.

When printing and trimming, ensure that the paper won't wrap around so far that it covers the text.

You can also do this flag-style, but that way is more likely to snag.

Pic shows 14 point Times New Roman text IIRC and 22 gauge wire.

Sorry for the bump, but I just had to share this picture.
Looks like Gracies little sister is enjoying A Little Rage too.
I guess it's time to start thinking about a cab for her?
