Fair enough. Was more my opinion having read comics and being familiar with the parties involved and understanding the basic rinse/repeat nature of movies and comics.

And I more-or-less agree with you (or rather, I've never read the comics so I can't really say one way or the other). I think the point, though, wasn't that the Chitauri are weak. I suppose that's a question that can only answered by the source material. The point is that they were portrayed in the film as being not particularly formidable. And there's no way to get around the fact that Black Widow can defeat them with punches. Anybody who can be defeated by a punch from Black Widow, I'm sorry, will also be defeated by a round from an M-16. Don't get me wrong, Black Widow has very useful talents that were displayed multiple times during the film (e.g., both times she used deception as a very effective interrogation technique). But in an actual battle with an army, 200,000 soldiers with machine guns > Black Widow. Obviously.

Come now . . . don't pretend you don't recognize a bit of tongue-in-cheek ribbing even when there's a big fat emoticon pointing it out. Anyway, I think I've fairly exhaustively listed my reasons for thinking Captain America is lame. That really wasn't just a matter-of-fact statement lacking any reasoning backing it up my point of view. :cheers:
