Golden Tee Fore 2005 Conversion

Brian74:
So I got a empty Golden Tee Fore 2005 cabs from the local dealer for 20 bucks. I have been searching Google to see if anyone has used one of these for a mame conversion. I was hoping to get some input or some ideas for cp layout and what kind of monitor to use. For the cp I plan on going with 2 players 7 buttons plus admin, trackball, 4 way plus a flight stick. I was trying to decide between a 27 lcd or I found a 29 inch arcade monitor. So if anyone has some ideas I would love to hear them.

As far as monitors are concerned I think you'll find the general consensus around here is if you have access to an actual arcade monitor than that should be your 1st choice. Overall visuals/refresh rate/resolutions will be matched perfectly and provide a much more authentic feel. I personally haven't used an arcade monitor in a project as I have only been building bartops at this point but I will definitely look into using one in a future upright.

For the control panel I would take a look at what games you want to be able to play and adjust for that. I am not a fan of cluttered controllers as I feel its a bit overwhelming and sometimes just gets in the way. There are quite a few projects that have taken the approach of as many games as possible- I'd flip through some of them and see which you'd like to mimic. There are also stencils available here

Good Luck

I just started on one of these too :) I was hoping to use an old 27in TV but everyone I find is just a bit too wide with the casing. Its a tight fit...no way 29inch fits with modding the cab. I ended up getting a steal on a really nice 24in flat screen monitor on black friday and went with that....I haven't got it mounted yet.

good luck

I just started a thread about the same. I recently acquired a gt cab too. I went around about using a 27" TV also, but in the end I'm going with a 28" LCD. It should be the same as a 24" 4:3 monitor. I will have to mod the cab internally to get the extra 1.25" I need to fit it. Should be easy and unnoticable. I plan to plug the exisiting holes in the cp with glue and dowel rod and redrill for a 2 player 7 buttons. I finally figurred that I didn't want to deal with decasing a TV, tryying to mount it, the weight, etc. Plus LCD will be easier to replace in the future....looking forward to seeing your progress...

Hey redbeard, I think you would be better off replacing the lid off the cp and starting over. What I dont like about the cp is the angle of it. I think I will raise the front of it a bit to get it a little more flat. That way it will feel a little more comfortable standing up. I guess if its down, ppl could sit on bar stools.  Im running hyperspin for the front end, so i need to find a 2 player 7 button trackball 4 way flight stick and maybe spinner over labeled for such. Anyone know where I can find one?
