groovymame/kms and xf86-video-intel on 945GM?
« on: September 17, 2011, 05:51:11 am »
Hi all, does anyone had luck in configuring working 15khz modelines on 945GM mobile chipset?
It would be very nice if i could throw that old pc out of the cab and have an asus 1005ha in place.
by now,i just tried to plug the vga cable in the netbook and added a modeline that way:
Code: [Select]
randr --newmode "640x240" 13.220 640 672 736 832 240 243 246 265 -hsync -vsync
xrandr --addmode VGA1 640x240
xrandr --output VGA1 --auto
xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 640x240
...but nothing happened, black screen (old ati system still works as expected) and other modelines works on a flat tv via vga.

So i'm wondering if that chipset has some hardware limit versus lowres modelines or maybe is a driver/kms issue.

any clue?

thanks!

Calamity

I'm afraid I have no experience with intel video cards. However I doubt there's such a hardware limitation actually, probably it's just a driver issue. Indeed, bitbytebit needed to patch ATI legacy driver to allow low dotclocks in Linux, which otherwise are locked.
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.
