Can I use my cab joystick as a mouse?
« on: September 09, 2011, 12:43:55 am »
I have a PC game called World of Zoo on my cab for my 5 year old daughter. :lol She is pretty good with the stick and there isnt much room to run a mouse on my cab's cp.
I have played games that used the joystick to move a hand to select items. How can I get this to work for PC games that dont support a joystick? :dunno
They treated me like an animal and that's what I became.

Hmmm....not sure about a joystick moving a mouse cursor but a trackball definitely can.

In WinXP, Control Panel, Accessibility Options, there is a tab to enable "MouseKeys".  I'm not sure if it will translate well to a joystick because in my testing pressing 6 & 2 doesn't give you diagonal down and right but rather the last key that was pressed takes over.  Number 3 makes it go diagonal...
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

You could mount a usb plug somewhere close to the CP, then use a mouse on a small table next to the CP.

Is your joystick seen by windows as a joystick or a keyboard?

Google joystick to mouse and you'll find a couple programs.
Joy2Mouse comes to mind.

An *analog* stick *may* work as a mouse....I dunno. A digital (4 switches) stick will not unless theres some clever program out there to do this. I'd assume it would resemble what is in MAME to play trackball games with a joystick.

You can do this just fine with one of those programs (like joy2mouse) or you can use a scripting language to do the same thing (AutoIt or AutoHotKey are good choices).  An analog joystick would probably be easier to use, but a digital joystick will work just fine.  I know I've seen this kind of code on the AHK forum at some point, so that one is ready to use even!

If you happen to have a U360 in there, there is a mouse map for that stick that I use.  Works pretty well for what it is.

Im running xp with a ultimarc keyboard hack and a ultimate stick from happs

The main motion of world of Zoo is to hold down a mouse button and move the cursor back and forth to brush and scratch animals. I think a joystick would be best for this. I think I will give one of the  programs recomended once my new video card arives. It turns out I need to be able to run pixel shader 1.1, Bummer. :banghead:
