1st Build - Mortal Kombat
« on: May 20, 2011, 07:11:47 pm »
Hi Everyone,

Been watching these forums for some time getting ideas and tips, I have refurbished a few cabs in my time although this was to be my 1st scratch build - let me know what you think!

A few small areas of imperfection, although not bad for an amateur  :D

Very nice. Is it running mame?  Or is it a jamma cab?

Sorry should have specified, its running MAME but only MK's (i.e MK1, 2 , 3, UMK3).

Hyperspin as a frontend

Thanks!

You got a box in there to run MK9?

Only thing I'd change is to center the screen more, and put some of the instruction cards on top.  Why just the MKs? WWF Wrestlemania (by Midway) uses the 5 button layout too =D
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

I agree about the centering, I didn't plan on the screen being that high up but it is still a good height for playing - next machine I will try and get a 26" in there.

Didn't know that re Wrestlemania, will give it a go - thanks. Initially I just wanted to build a dedicated MK :)

Damn!! Since nobody else is going to say it, I will: AMAZING JOB!!!!

Forums are a funny thing. If you stay on them long enough, it can sometimes look like everybody has built a great cabinet. You get used to all of the project posts and things begin to look like they are easy or 'normal' after a while. I think people forget that a build like this is quite extraordinary. If you showed your cabinet outside of the forums, most people probably wouldn't believe that you built it yourself.

It is fantastic looking and the whole project is stunning. Pat yourself on the back, because I would love to have this cab in my home!!  :applaud:

Great job on the build. I just can get over the monitor not being centered, I would have to throw a 24 or 27 in there.

Very classy build. I like how you've chosen a minimalistic game list as well. You will surely get more joy out of that than the usual abundance of games that never get played anyway. I have to a agree on the monitor though.
