Star trek Gun Problem

(1/2) > >>

kardenm:
We have a Williams, Star Trek NG pinball.  Been going over whole game cleaning and fixing.  Have got everything working except the left gun has a glitch we haven't been able to solve.

All the optos, switches and motors work during tests but while playing the game this gun fires the ball but the game doesn't register that the ball has been fired untill the trigger is pulled a second time.

We have been advised by some "experts" (board-only repair tech) that this problem has been encountered before but that the problem is NOT in the CPU board.  He thinks problem somewhere in the wiring or optos.

Can anyone shed some light on this?  Has anyone out there encountered a similar problem?   :dunno

Q*Bert_OP:
Replace the cannon wiring harnesses.

These start to have problems around 2000-3000 plays.

Or repin them.  Replacing a harness with a crappy connector on a regular basis is foolish.

The wires break internally at the pivot point.  :bat
