Small 30cm wide vertical bartop
« on: September 25, 2013, 11:06:04 am »
So a friend told me he likes arcade cabs, but does not have the room for a big standup cab. I told him I could make a small bartop, with al the old games he likes.
I told him I could, but I never touched a jigsaw in my life. But that was the beginning of a new vertical bartop.

So I bought 10 mm mdf, wich I thought should be enough for a small bartop, en started drawing :)

and no, I didn't had a design, I just put the parts there, so I knew I had enough space. And draw around it.

Ok, most of the parts cut

Jigsawed an old bezel to make it fit in this one.

and the back

It is not perfect, but for a first time project I'm pretty happy with the result.

Now I have to wait for some more parts before I can continue.

Plans:
- bondo it and sand it
- paint it black
- simple ARCADE marquee
- wire it, 17" lcd and 60 in 1 jamma board
- maybe a coin acceptor on the side
- play it :D

Way to go! Nice and simple.

Who needs woodworking skills? :-)

Nice,

Looks good. Some times wish I did a quick small cab first.

Thanks  :applaud:

I painted the thing, and installed the wiring, jamma 60 in 1 board, monitor etc etc, my friend asked if it was possible to add a coin acceptor, pff, the thing was almost ready, but this one would be possible  :D

Next steps:

- painting the inside of the bezel to fit the monitor
- waiting for the marquee
- finishing minor things
- make more pictures :D

Now with the final marquee:

I used this one http://arcadeartlibrary.com/arcade_art/details.php?image_id=343 and changed the color a bit in Photoshop

He picked up the cab, and was very happy with the result. He's happy and I have some more experience with woodworking
