Happ 3" trackball wiring help
« on: February 06, 2011, 07:09:24 am »
I am hoping you can answer a simple question.

I am in the process of hooking up my 3" Happ Trackball.  I understand from the instructions that you hook up the Brown and Black wires to the to the left mouse button and the Orange and Black to the right ( I am only using 2 mouse buttons).  My question is looking at these connections, there are two sets of Brown and Black wires and Orange and Black wires I am unsure which set to use. (One has one wire for each color and the other has 2 of each color).

I also would like to know if I continue my daisy chain of ground wires to these mouse buttons.

There is also a earth ground wire coming from the trackball. I am unsure what to do with this.

Appreciate any help, as the directions have me stumped.
Jason

Black to the common of the switch and Brown or Orange to the N.O of the switch.   Black is the ground and it should not matter which one goes to which button.  The ground is from the Happ TB interface and you do not need to connect to the other daisychain ground.

The earth ground wire is connected to a frame or earth ground in your cabinet.  It is used to drain off static electricity.

Thanks Bob,

So it does not matter if I use the "2 wire" orange/black vs. "1 wire" orange/black?

On the earth ground, am I simply to just screw that ground to the underside of my control panel, or is their more needed to drain off the static electricity.

Appreciate your time.

Do you mean 2 connector not 2 wire?   I see no 2 wire harnesses of that color in the instructions.

Different connectors are provided on the same wire to allow different sized terminals.

Pic shows multi connectors on same wire.  Just use the connector that fits your switch.

The frame ground should be connected to wherever you can access the ground that comes into your cabinet.   If you do not have a 3 wire cord you do not have a ground for your cab.  If you have 3 wires then wherever you terminated your AC ground wire.
