The Secret Bartop
« on: November 15, 2010, 04:24:19 am »
I just wanted to let you know I am working on a new bartop. That's probably why you haven't heard much from me lately.

I don't wan't to reveal too much, but the new design has taken me 3-4 times longer to design and it has no wood in it at all :)

Im really looking forward to showing you some jpeg's in a few days.

I need to post in this thread so I see it when I look at updated posts.  Besides that, I'm starting the poll.  Who thinks the entire bartop will be made out of acrylic?  (NO WOOD?!)

I have stolen the plans to the core, and no, it's not made of cheese.

Im about 95% finished with designing the project now. When I am 100% finished I will post lots and lots of pictures of making the cabinet. I even have most of the parts by now. Here is some of the parts:

UltraStik 360 from Ultimarc and Sanwa 24mm buttons and the is no artwork :D

Weecade, Nanocade, Verticade, Project MAME and Taitorama

I'm going with a clear plastic idea, possibly running LEDWiz with some internal lighting.

It's got to be all clear plastic - I'm interested in how thick and heavy it will be completed.  The thicker the better.  Maybe even lucite.  Sick idea!!!!  If it's what you are doing.  Great, now you're gonna have me thinking about the MysteryCade LOL!!!!!!

yeah im thinking clear plastic with neon lights.  i have  a guitar like that.. it sucks for tone but is cool none the less as art. heh.  if its not plastic, ill say some kind of go go  gadget type of cab.. built into a bar table.

cant wait. :D

If it is acrylic I hope he gets some cool laser etching done on the side and lights it up like the sun.

Sorry about the delay :)

All the materials are ready now and I am only waiting to get some special CNC cutting done. Unfortunately the company that does this for me are very busy at the moment, so it's just out of my hand at the moment  :-\

Really, really looking forward to post pictures of me putting the cabinet together :D Hope it's just in a week or so, crossing my fingers.
