Monopoly Pin--Lot's of noise through Speakers

I just bought a Monopoly (2001) machine--there's lot's of noise coming through the speakers when not playing a game.  The noise sounds like 60 cycle hum amped up, but the noise does change pitch/volume slightly as the general illumination goes through its cycle when the machine is in attract mode.  My question is whether this is normal for a Stern machine (the person I bought it from says it is...)?  This is my 1st experience with a Stern machine.  My other machine is an Indiana Jones (Williams) and that has very little if any hum/white noise coming through the speakers when not in a game (at least that I can hear....).

I believe I have heard that coming from a Stern pin before but I'm not 100% sure. I do know that my High Speed will do that a lot but I kind of think of it as a mark of the era.

All Data East and Sega pins have a hum when in attract mode. This is believed to be caused by a grounding issue with the game's electronic system. All modern Sterns will have this up until World Poker Tour which is the first SAM board system game. Monopoly uses a Sega Whitestar board system. My home used only Terminator 3 has the hum as well.  :dunno

Newer Stern games WPT and after do not have the speaker hum.

Wondered whether anyone had tried this solution and whether it had worked for them--this guy sounded pretty definitive that he solved the problem....
