What else can i put on my cab?
« on: October 04, 2010, 11:16:15 am »
Ive "finished" my mame cabinet. Spec is 2 Player 7 Button per player. 1 x Trackball. Standard Joysticks all wired to Ipac2. 21" CRT PC Monitor. PC spec is roughly P4 3GZ - plenty of HD space - 2GB Ram - Onboard Grafix Card (512MB) though i can upgrade if need be but as yet havent felt the need to.

Im running Maximus front end and so far have PSX,Dreamcast,SNES,Megadrive(Genesis),Master System, Latest Mame and Roms, All NeoGeo Roms and quite a few PC games that have been recommended on other PC Games Threads on this board.
And im still bored!!!

What other emulators etc can i put on my cab?

Ive put a Jukebox type software on it but never use it so taken it off.
Ive tried Daphne before but dont really enjoy the games.
Im in the process of adding Amiga games to the cab.

I wanted to add 3DO and Phillips games to it but had trouble getting anything configured.

Im thinking of putting pinball games on it but not sure how to configure it (gonna mount buttons for flippers either side of cab if i like it)

Is there a way of doing realistic fruit machine games on it?

What other ideas do you have?

I already own Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii all modded for homebrew so didnt want to go that far with the cab as im happy playing those on my 42" LCD TV.

All that and you are still bored?  Im not sure theres any hope for you  ;D

Theres lots of DOS/Windows based games you could add. The lightcycles one I have, several shootemups, etc etc

Do you have a light gun?

You could add Hyperpin and Visual Pinball to it, I did on mine but it kinda sucks on a 25" TV
You need good resolution for pinball but I still enjoy it, kinda. Until my pincab is done

+1 on the light guns

There are a lot of  other systems you didn't mention (Naomi, Sega Model 2, N64, NES, Atari 2600, Colecovision),
but I doubt you'd find them any more entertaining than the ones you have.

Future pinball is easy to install if you want to try that one first.
I like it a lot better than Visual Pinball, but it doesn't have nearly the amount of recreated tables.

Id have thought the naomi and system emus would be the same as mp psx and dc ones?

i have been thinking of light guns. Id love to make a virtual pinball machine.

I'd definitely recommend PinMAME and Virtual Pinball. It is fun once you set everything up.

Tinkering and making things work the way I want them to IS the game for me.
I spend way more time experimenting with controls and setting stuff up than I do playing.

Id agree with the above - i hardly "play" on the cab at all. Im usually messing around with settings and emus!
