SpaceHedgehog:

I've finally got off my behind and started on my next project which is going to be for Wii / Kinect / PS move games. This is going to be mainly for the wife and kids. Styling wise, I'm going for a Vewlix / Showcase hybrid to fit in with my existing Vewlix clone. I'll be using a 32" LCD tv for the display. It will take aesthetic elements from this:

and my Vewlix cab:

Initially it won't have any control panel but I'll likely add to it at a later stage (double joystick panel and gun controller). Just cut the first pieces of MDF so time to get started. I'm looking forward to doing this because I only have ideas and no plans!! I'm going to freestyle my way through. Wish me luck!!

SpaceHedgehog:

Ok, to give a bit more of an idea on the shape, each side will look like this in profile:

I'll be using Ikea table legs as a basis for a monitor stand, so from the front you will see 2 poles between the top of the lower cabinet section and the bottom of the display

SpaceHedgehog:

A bit of bevelling on the inside faces of the side pieces for added interest:

It strikes me that I'm going to be able to build this in stages. The base unit/monitor first, the followed by the monitor casing (a 'skin' for the tv) and then the control panel.

SpaceHedgehog:

Next the shelf supports being glued in place. The base unit will house the consoles and will have a mesh fronted door for air flow:

SpaceHedgehog:

Just 'balanced' together for now but it shows the shape better:

Should hopefully get a picture with the table legs in place soon.
